This article was written in response to the following email enquiry;
OMG EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THOSE IS TRUE FOR ME. The above are all the symptoms of a rather common energy field disorder, called 'Bipolar energy disorder' that is often accompanied by a 'kyphotic spine'. It is a sort of split between the energy body of lower half of the torso and the upper half that is caused by, or causes us to hold our head and upper body a little to the front of the normal position, causing the spine to bend slightly as in the picture below (which shows an exaggerated bend just to make the point).
It is a very simple postural and energy field disorder but has a massive effect on our bodies and psyches as it literally causes our energy field to have two alternating 'agendas' going on at the same time. It is the cause of bipolar affective disorder, most personality disorders, identity crises, sleeping disorders and much emotional trauma as a result.
You can see in the picture above, how the vertical axis of the energy field which should be one straight line from the bottom of the torso to the head, is now split for most of its journey into two. These two now vie for the energy moving inbetween causing drains in the middle and surges at the ends. This causes a split in the working of the endocrine glands in the brain, and the endocrine glands in the gut which work together to manage energy distribution, sleep and body cycles. Bipolar Energy Field Disorder is caused by one or more of the following situations. The first is a long term blocking off of vital energy moving upwards from the abdomen. When we suppress our physical instincts - like hunger, thirst, sexual urge, urge to urinate and so on, we automatically clench our abdominal muscles, pushing the lower spine back, and thrusting our upper spine and face foward as if to dominate the lower body. In the long term, this actually changes the way we hold our back and head, causing the slight forward positioning of the upper body. The vertical axis of the body is now no longer straight. Emotionally the tendency to self-suppress can arise from shock and trauma that we cannot manage or accept. The shock or hurt is so terrible, we simply cut it off from our active minds and if we continue that way the upper energy body gets divorced from the lower energy body. Examples of this happening are when we know that someone has betrayed or hurt us, but feel afraid to acknowledge it, or consider parting ways with them. We go into denial, 'decide' to pretend it never happened and go on 'being friends' or lovers etc. Another example is when we force ourselves to do something we definitely do NOT want to do, because we think our logic is more dependable than our instinct. As children, our bodies will wait for us to grow up and resolve the issue. It is when our body is fully developed and we still haven't resolved the issue, that the energy body and physical body start rebelling. The second is over-energizing the upper body and brain. When we live a lifystle where we are mentally active at the cost of the other parts of us, our upper bodies thrust forward because we are now presenting ourselves as our brains and faces, more than the rest of the body. We are now extremely expressive with our faces, hands, head and neck while our middles, and legs get pushed into the background. The third is simply bad posture for whatever reason. At any time, our back-bone needs to be straight, so it can keep the spinal colum straight. This ensures the smooth flow of electric impulse right through our nervous systems, the flow of blood all through the body, and through these the energizing, harmony and health of the entire body. How to correct bipolar energy field disorder; 1) Practice keeping your back straight. 2) Every time you catch yourself thrusting your upper body forward, pull it back and get your back straight again. 3) Lie down in bed and hug your knees. 4) Practice the 'Link-Up' mudra for atleast 10 minutes in the morning and evening. This is how many choirs world-over have their singers holding their hands while singing. It is truly helpful to singers because it helps air (and energy) from the belly move up towards the throat without disruption. This helps them hold a note for longer, sound clearer and have minimal 'trembling'. All this simply because it connects up the lower energy body with the upper one.
5) Work out the issues that you have opposing views about, taking care to give your instinctive feelings as much importance - if not more - than what you 'think' in your head. Ultimately this is the most common cause of any energy field disorder - not being aware of or disregarding instinct. All you are required to do is acknowledge your feelings without judgment - the rest is your choice in the moment. 6) Allow yourself to be led in your daily routine by the impulses and needs of your physical body. Don't make your body follow your routine, eat when you're hungry, drink when you're thirsty, sleep when you're sleepy. This will make sure that there no energy blocks cutting off vital energy supply in your body from moving to every single cell. 7) Practise deep breathing. This means taking in enough air to fill your lungs right till the bottom - where they touch the diaphragm (near the lower ribs). This raises the level of oxygenation in the body, balances energy levels in the nervous system and helps the body get back hormonal balance by doing so. If you are wondering about how this bipolar energy disorder causes you to laugh lesser than usual, its because the horizontal belt that extends from one end of the lower back to the other, that goes from one love-handle to the other and includes within it the tail-bone point, has high tension because of the energy surge here. When this area is rubbed or massaged in babies, they begin to smile and laugh. Now there aren't any researchers I know of, doing studies on this, but in my experience, I find that those with bipolar energy disorder, have this area highly tense and every time you rub, massage or even pat this area, the tension gets released and one of the first reactions is to relax, smile and if there's something remotely funny around, laugh. I have noticed people finding the littlest of jokes extremely hilarious when this point has just been rubbed. Try it and see for yourself. I call it the funny point for this reason.
