I would have never believed it if I hadn't seen it. My female lab has new confidence - the sort she never had even as a pup. She used to run indoors and hide under a bed any time someone new entered. She was afraid of the mailman, newspaper boy, neighbors, neighbor's dogs, loud noises, bulky people (or thin people in big fat coats) and anything strange. She has on occasion peed indoors in terror when a visitor approached her to pat her.

Here is a little on low confidence in dogs - how it happens and how energy medicine works to heal them.

Dogs usually develop low confidence and fear of strangers for the following reasons;

1) Erratic and confusing disciplinary patterns
They just don't know what really makes us angry or happy because we behave differently with him or her in different moods or differently in front of different people. Makes the dog confused and after two or three times of being reprimanded without any clear reason (especially in front of guests or visitors!), makes him or her believe they are just wrong no matter what. The running away from strangers and so on is just the dog trying to prevent an incident where they upset you or you upset them.

2) Anti-social human or parent for company
Most doggie Moms and Dads teach their babies that other dogs and humans are fun, and approachable. Some however, have had their own share of trauma and pass on the fear or suspiscion of others to their offspring. We do the same to our pets (and children too). The little one doesn't know that we are responding to our own life's trauma and simply develop low self esteem on being unable to interact with the world.

3) Chronic low energy levels
Dogs have chronic low energy levels when they have been ill again and again without ever fully recovering, especially as pups. They can also have low energy constantly if their diet isn't tasty, chewable and nutritious enough, they aren't getting enough sleep, or are separated from a human they love. Their always being low on energy shows on their body and they are aware of that. This makes them lose confidence and they stop trying to face situations and hide instead.
