Holistic Treatment of Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia is the name given to the condition where you feel a whole lot of pain
in the muscles, connective tissue and joints, but doctors can't find a particular cause
of the pain.
In the human energy field, Fibromyalgia shows up long before the actual pain, as
energy deficient zones in the energy pathways that run along the limbs of the body,
particularly in the hands and feet. The muscles and nerves of the hands and feet are
always reacting to nervous system impulses and therefore work quite a bit in the
course of the day. If for one reason or the other, these high-use muscles are not
rested - as all muscles need to be - they develop dull constant pain - a little like
carpal tunnel syndrome, but different in that, this muscle pain, or joint pain, spreads
across the entire muscular system slowly.
When we ignore the pain and move on with our daily lives without resting these
muscles and nerves, in the long term, coupled with other stress-related disorders like
the pain-pleasure hormonal imbalance in the brain (pituitary-pineal-hypothalamus
axis imbalance) it leads to fibromyalgia symptoms. Chronic fatigue, feeling drained
all the time, depression and nervous system disorders could all surface at one time or
the other.
The bad news is that Fibromyalgia is not a quickly healed disorder, because its root
lies in years of badly managed stress and lack of rest and sleep quality (muscles
regenerate themselves during rest and sleep and depend on these for good health).
The good news is that Fibromyalgia can be completely healed and reversed if you

Holistic ways to heal Fibromyalgia
1) Drink lots of water.
Water has a big role to play in pain management anywhere in the body. As long as
water is being carried around the body, cells and nerves are able to maintain a
decent lubrication level. A lack of this basic lubrication in the muscles and around
nerves actually causes much of the pain a fibromyalgia patient experiences. Drinking
enough water, stabilizes the temperature in the body, around the nerve cells and
lessens pain because of this.
2) Oxygenate the body
This means, provide enough oxygen for the cells of the body to heal themselves. You
see, when we breathe in oxygen, we are literally taking in food for our cells to keep
themselves healthy and reproduce into other healthy cells. Fibromyalgia is basically
the inability of muscle cells to keep themselves robust and elastic without sending
out pain impulses to the nervous system. They are on low energy reserves or simply
too ill to work without pain.
When we breathe in deep and hold air in our lungs for a long time, we increase the
amount of oxygen in our body. First the brain gets its share, then the heart and
circulatory system, then the digestive system, and then the muscular and nervous
systems. So make a habit of breathing in deep and holding air in for as long as
possible.
Another way to oxygenate the body is quite simply to exercise. Other natural ways
to oxygenate the body are having sex, orgasming, laughing, and hot water baths.
3) Rehabilitate the Endocrine System
Now this means you need to sleep in the night - atleast go to sleep before midnight.
If you are a Fibromyalgia patient chances are you have trouble falling asleep before
midnight as your hormone levels are imbalanced. You need to slowly work your
sleep cycle around, going 30 minutes earlier to bed everyday till you going to bed
before midnight atleast. Turning off the lights atleast 1 hour before bed-time (that
includes turning your computer off as well!) will greatly help.

4) Rest your muscles
Resting your muscles doesn't mean just 'don't do anything that uses up your muscles'. It includes resting the nerves that link to your muscles as these are the ones that give the 'pain' report.
There is a simple yoga exercise called 'Shavasan' which literally means 'position of a
corpse'. This means you just lie down your limbs straight and pretend you're dead. It
means you don't do anything at all - no thinking, no talking, no moving -
nothing - ONLY breathing is allowed (Thank God!). This exercise, when practised
regularly, gets your muscles into the habit of relaxing even when you are awake,
which is invaluable to reduce pain and help muscle and joint cells rehabilitate
themselves.
Besides this, you can just sit somewhere you feel secure, calm and undisturbed - and
just rest.
You do realize that healing Fibromyalgia means healing your ability to just
rest.
5) Change the way you respond to Stress
Fibromyalgia patients tend to hold in day-to-day stress to deal with later instead of
sending it through the system immediately. This is typical of most adults in
demanding environments, because when we have to keep our emotions for later, or
tolerate a lot of rude behavior or ill-treatment as part of our jobs, we have to keep a
straight face and only bother about our feelings afterwards when we are in the
privacy of our bedroom.
Its is unfortunate, but we can learn to work around it.
You see, when we are stressed, if something had upset us or worried us, if we will
allow ourselves to just be aware of it in the moment, it will be enough. We
will know deep down what to do, and if we can't do anything rightaway, we can do
something to change our lives. If however, we do not notice that something has
upset us, our body will save up the chemical reaction that stress triggered off, for
later, and when these stress responses collect up, they show up in long term illnesses
like Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Arthritis and Clinical Depression.
Love yourself enough to give yourself the right to emotional awareness. You are
human and an emotional being. In the moment, feel what you are feeling. Keep the
tears or screams for later if necessary, but not the feeling itself.
