Plasma cells are part of what makes up blood and are a part of the body's defense. When there is a need to fight infection, or warn the rest of the body that a poison has entered, they quickly reproduce into many new infection fighting cells and get the job done. However, sometimes, for no known reason they multiply aggressively and these new fighter cells having no real enemy to attack, start ravaging the body's own tissues. This is what is called 'Plasma Cytoma'. When it happens in more than one area of the body it is called 'Multiple Myeloma'.
