    3 Holistic ways to Permanently get rid of Body Odor and/or Bad Breath

    This is really simple. To get really rid of chronic Body Odor or Bad Breath (Halitosis), three things are required;

    1) Rehabilitate Gut Function and the entire Digestive Tract


    We are not water proof odour proof plastic bags. Our skin, and just about every cell of our body is porous. So we're more like very porous paper bags. This means what's happening inside our body is slowly seeping out through our skin into the air around. If our digestive tract contains food that isn't digested, or the digestion is getting done way too slowly, all the smells of food being processed, and the gases working on them, and just about everything happening in the factory within will seep out.

    To rehabilitate our Gut Function and along with it the entire digestive tract, we need to make the three points below part of our lifestyle.

    1) Chew Food really well
    Chewing food in the mouth lessens the gut's work and causes all the substances required to digest it quickly and properly in the stomach, to be released (saliva being the first of those substances).

    2) Smell food before or while eating it.
    Doing this will also help the digestive system prepare to manage it starting right now rather than two hours later. This is because the smell of food is easier for the body to understand and react to, than its hard core chemical structure which is what it will deal with in the stomach. Its like making advance booking in a hotel instead of arriving without warning. If you book in advance, you get the room of your choice and the moment you arrive you can go straight to your room. If you arrive without warning, there's a wait while the hotel staff try to fit you in and you just might have to make do with whatever is available.

    3) Eat natural foods
    This is because our bodies have evolved to manage and take advantage of these. Processed foods, are harder to digest, don't have the fibre that make digestion happen and are nutritionally and energetically imbalanced. The more basic and closer to nature our food is the easier it will go through us.

    2) Oxygenate the entire Body

    The hormones, pheromones and various other natural chemicals moving around in our body each have their own smell. When they are released in the right doses in the right combinations, they make us smell like we want to smell, to give others the right idea about us and what we want from life. When they are trapped in cells that are not passing them through, the combination of chemicals in the body begins to fall out of balance, and all this literally making us smell different, stale, stuck, fermented, and sometimes even 'rotting'. The famous 'death smell' is nothing but hormones going stale as cells stop working.

    To keep our body sending the chemicals through properly, we need to keep our cells oxygenated. This can be done by;
    1) Learning to breathe deep and slow as much as possible
    2) Live in clean homes and breathe in as much fresh air as possible
    3) Keep physically active (even if its just long walks, it need not be frenetic)

    3) Stop being Stressed ALL the time

    The hormones we release when we are stressed (cortisol for egg.) stink. Many animals (including humans) are able to recognize the smell and take it for 'here is one who will be easy to pull down - he or she is already afraid'.

    Jim Corbett, the famous hunter of man-eater leopards and tigers all over India, in one of his books wrote about this smell we emit when we are constantly stressed and have reached a point of fear.

    There was a group of hills people travelling in the Garhwal Himalaya mountains in just the area where an old Leopard had begun to take to hunting humans. The group was unaware of the man-eater being around, and when it became dark, they found a shelter around which they lit a few fires to keep off predators and lay down to sleep. Just as they were going off to sleep, a local woman arrived. She was a few hours away from her village but didn't want to continue her journey after dark because of the maneater. She was terrified and crying. The group tried to calm her down, and ended up having her sleep right in the middle of the group, with people around in every direction so that just in case the leopard came, he'd definitely not choose her.

    That night however, the leopard came, walked carefully over the 40 or more people sleeping between him and the woman, and took her off. Some terrified people remembered him sniffing the air as he walked and they say he could tell from the smell which human to pick on.

    Many humans in martial arts or actual physical combat use their sense of smell to let them know the condition of their opponent. The second they smell cortisol, they know the opponent is stressed, tired, and is losing energy fast because being stressed makes us lose energy rapidly.

    To stop being constantly stressed, we need to change our lives around to include those things we enjoy. We need to face our problems head on instead of 'hiding out hoping we will get away with' something. More importantly, we need to develop a strong inner core and have faith in ourselves.

    Its easy to be strong, clear headed and therefore stress free if we have slept well and deep, so correcting our sleep routine to sleep well and in the night is one of the best ways to become stress free.

    Note: Stress due to emotional or mental factors, is not the only stress that causes our bodies to produce the stress hormones. Using creams, medicines, drugs, even perfumes that our body isn't reacting well to, or feels bombarded by, causes the body to become stressed, just to resist the strong imposing substances and their effects. Stopping bombarding our bodies with unnatural or artificial substances, helps our body get back to feeling normal and bringing hormones into balance.
